Jennifer Hudson Sings the National Anthem at the Super Bowl

If you missed Jennifer Hudson singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl XLIII, wow did you ever miss out. Jennifer Hudson not only looked beautiful, she rocked the place out.

It's hard to imagine what she still must be going through after her mom, brother and nephew were killed, but Jennifer Hudson stood up there like a trooper and sang the Star Spangled Banner with heart and then some.

I even thought that some of the players were going to start shedding tears while Jennifer Hudson was singing the Star Spangled Banner before the Super Bowl took off.

UPDATE: Turns out Jennifer Hudson lip synched the anthem after all because it was the first time she's performed since the tragedy and they didn't want to chance a mistake.

Jennifer Hudson's Mother, Brother Murdered

Jennifer Hudson's mother Darnell Donnerson and 29-year-old brother Jason Donnerson were found murdered on October 24, 2008 at 3 p.m. in their Chicago home by a cousin of the family.

Jennifer Hudson's 7-year-old nephew Julian King is missing and an Amber alert has been issued in an effort to find him. The reason for the murders is not clear but police took William Balfour into custody. William Balfour already plead guilty in 1999 to attempted murder and behicular hijacking.

Jennifer Hudson rushed to Chicago from Florida as soon as she could. There's no doubt she's devastated to discover that her brother was shot dead in the chest and her mother shot in the head.

Jennifer Hudson lost her father when she was only a teenager and now she lost the rest of her family. Our thoughts and prayers are with her through this incredibly difficult time.

UPDATE: The body of Jennifer Hudson's 7-year-old nephew was found in a 1994 white Chevy Suburban. This is really sad news and we were all hoping it wouldn't end this way.

Jennifer Hudson's Mother Killed

Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother were found murdered Friday - both the victims of gun shot wounds.

They were found at their Chicago home, and police are searching for Hudson's missing nephew who was at the house at the time of the murders.

An Amber Alert was issued Friday evening for the missing boy.

William Balfour, a suspect in the case, is in custody and being questioned by police. As of Saturday morning he had not been charged with any crime. A police spokeswoman said detectives were talking to "a number of people in custody".

Police say Balfour is a prime suspect in the double murders of Darnell Donerson, 57, and Jason Hudson, 29.

Hudson's publicist, Lisa Kasteler, confirmed the deaths:

"We can confirm that there is an ongoing investigation concerning the deaths of Jennifer Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, and her brother, Jason Hudson. No further comment will be made and the family has asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time."

Hudson, who grew up in Chicago, was featured in the recent "Sex and the City" movie, and is currently starring in the film "The Secret Life of Bees."

She won an Academy Award for best supporting actress in 2007 for her role in "Dreamgirls" with Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé Knowles and Eddie Murphy.
